While riding the subways…

Conductor: www.mta.me from Alexander Chen on Vimeo.

My newly-resurfaced love of subway art led me to the amazing piece Conductor by Alexander Chen, which turns the subway system into a stringed instrument with colored lines that signify dispatched trains on a 24-hour loop and vibrate when they intersect. Watch it at mta.me and then read about it here.

Life Underground by Tom Otterness

And I’m sure many of you have seen Life Underground by Tom Otterness, a series of amazing, adorable little bronze sculptures around the 14th Street station on the A, C, E and L lines. I love them even more every time I see them. Image: D. James Dee, tomostudio.com.
